D.O. RUEDA: ungrafted VINES AND MORE

With its uncomplicated, fruity wines, the D.O. Rueda has experienced a rapid rise in recent years - in Spain, but also in our country.
However, the Spanish white wine region also harbours treasures that even many wine experts are unaware of.

On 25 November 2019, the D.O. Rueda presents an exclusive selection of rare wines from ancient vines of the local Verdejo grape variety: nine wines from vines that are well over 100 years old ungrafted These nine treasures can be discovered in the "wine shop" in the heart of St Pauli!

At the beginning of the 20th century, phylloxera also destroyed a large part of the vines in what is now the Rueda wine-growing region. However, many vineyards were spared. The sandy soils, especially on the banks of the Duero and in the province of Segovia, scattered individual vineyards and the dry climate stopped the advance of phylloxera.

In the cosy atmosphere of the St. Pauli wine shop, Spain expert David Schwarzwälder will guide you through the history of these old vineyards and provide interesting background information on the unique wines. This will be followed by a free tasting and discussion with the expert, accompanied by culinary delights.
