Organic wines from Vienna: Alex Zahel has been running the Zahel family winery in the 4th generation since 2005. He produces his expressive wines biodynamically - and lets nature set the tone.

A few centuries ago, it was common practice to plant many different grape varieties in one vineyard and vinify them together, but today this tradition is only practised in a few regions.
Yet this method has many advantages: the diversely planted vineyards deliver reliable yields even in difficult years and the wines have a unique fruitiness, freshness and complexity.
The Gemischter Satz is part of the cultural heritage of Vienna, the only capital city in the world to be classified as its own wine-growing region.
Grapes that reflect the diversity of the city grow there in special microclimates on soils ranging from sand to limestone.
