A qualification for those who want to learn about a wide range of grape varieties and wine regions.

In this course you will learn more about the most important grape varieties in the world and the regions in which they are grown.

Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will learn the factors that influence style and quality and learn to describe wines according to the WSET scheme in a structured way.

On successful completion you will receive the internationally recognised WSET Level 2 Wine Course Qualification Certificate and a pin and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Who it is aimed at:
This qualification is suitable wherever a good knowledge of wine enhances professional skills and competences, such as: customer service and sales in catering, retail, wholesale, winemaking and wine tourism. It is also aimed at wine lovers who have a general interest in wine and want to deepen their wine knowledge.

What you will learn:
- How environmental factors, viticulture, winemaking and ageing options influence the style and quality of wine
- The most important white and red grape varieties in the world and their characteristics
- The most important wine-growing regions in the world
- Labelling terminology - the most important terms to indicate origin, style and quality
- The production of sparkling, sweet and liqueur wines
- The basics of food and wine pairing
- The most important principles and procedures for storing and serving wine
- How to taste and describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Tasting of Wine®

Performance assessment:
The examination will take place in the last session of the course. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions to be answered in one hour without any aids. An overall mark of 55% is required to pass.

Entry requirements:
there are no restrictions on entry to the WSET Level 2 qualification. However, candidates with no previous knowledge of wine are advised to take Level 1 first. Candidates should be over 18 years of age.

Recommended preparation:
before starting the course, participants should have read the textbook and course book. This course is enjoyable but requires approximately 11 hours of self-study.
