A unique opportunity to taste over 100 wines, from 30 different vineyards, in the most emblematic and culturally important village in Catalonia.
Arrels del Vi means wine roots in Catalan. The name comes from the fact that the Phoenicians introduced wine to the Spanish Peninsula here, in the beautiful village of St Martí d’Empúries, 2600 years ago. To celebrate this, and the more recent surge in the quality of the regional wines, Arrels del Vi was born.
The festival operates in a professional format, this is to say that you can taste all of the wines (well over 100) in a Riedel glass served to you by the winemaker him or herself.
There will also be live music, activities for kids and much more.
In addition to this you can also sample the famous l’Escala anchovies and even get free entrance to the ruins of Empúries, only a stone’s throw away from the fair.
After all that action you may want to eat in one of the excellent local restaurants and then maybe just relax on one of the stunning beaches that surround the village.
