The German Wine and Sommelier School, one of the leading educational institutions for professional training in the field of wine in Germany for over 20 years, is offering a top-class seminar on the wine-growing region and wines of Languedoc-Roussillon exclusively in collaboration with Sud de France: the Sud de France Master Level Programme.

Structure of the lesson - theory:

During the two days of the seminar, participants will delve deep into Languedoc-Roussillon with its rich history, diverse landscapes and dynamic wine industry, receive detailed information on the region's climate, grape varieties and viticulture, explore the geology, topography and soils of the region, learn about the specifics of wine production then and now, discuss all the individual AOCs (AOPs) and Vins de Pays (IGPs) in class and learn to recognise the differences between the main appellations and wine styles. The lessons are led by the well-known, certified sommelière IHK Christine Balais. To prepare for the lessons and the exam, participants will receive the training materials approximately four weeks before the start of the course.

Structure of the course - practice:

The lessons are accompanied by extensive wine tastings, which reflect the diverse styles of the most important growing areas in this large and important region of southern France.

Final examination:

The final exam consists of three parts: 50 multiple-choice questions, four short text questions and finally some questions on an illustrated map of the region. All questions are based on the content covered in the training guide for the Master's continuing education programme.
In the third part of the examination, a map is used to ask about larger cities, growing areas, sub-regions or other topographical features by name. The partial examinations have the following weighting in the assessment:
- 50 multiple-choice questions 50 points
- 10 questions on the map 10 points
- 4 short text questions 40 points
The final examination is deemed to have been passed if at least 75 points are achieved.
